As we’ve mentioned elsewhere in this blog, it’ll be nice to review and learn the math, improve reading skills and learn new stuff, but the best thing about doing something like this in the summer is practicing the self-motivation and self-discipline it takes to keep going, even when it gets hard and starts to take more work.

To help kids get better at staying with it, a point system has been devised, and prizes will be awarded based on the points.  Since this is a primarily technology-based effort, most of the prizes will be technology-based… earbuds, headphones, i-tunes gift cards, Kindles, Nooks, Borders credit for audio books, mp3 players, etc.  (Send your ideas to sosict2012@gmail.com).
